May I have this date?

Hello. My name is Natalie. I haven't had much luck dating in New York and I'd like to change that. Maybe you can help. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Email me at mayihavethisdate@gmail.com

Date: Noodles & Pau

Winter’s coming*. And what better way to stay warm than slurping delicious noodles in Chinatown on a lazy Sunday.

I’ve been to Tasty Hand-Pulled Noodles Inc. before and thought it was pretty tasty (hence the name), but if you’ve got another place in mind, I’d also be into trying something new. For dessert, I’ll walk us over to this place on Baxter St. where I always get leng yong pau (steamed bun with lotus seed paste) if I’m in Chinatown. You’re free to get any dessert they have, of course.

*…in more ways than one

Co-Ed Double Date: Dinner @ Northeast Kingdom

Anthony gives the best hugs in the world, has a contagious laugh and sits six feet away from me at work. He also has really good taste in just about everything, including food … so he’s recommended that you (a girl) and you (a guy) meet him and me here for dinner one night. Calling all brothers and sisters, fraternal twins, friends w/o benefits, and in his words “really hot” people. ;)

Date: Brunch @ Shopsins

If you don’t mind going early, or paying cash, or eating bacon and mac ‘n’ cheese stuffed pancakes (or one of the other 200 things on the menu), or potentially hearing the chef yelling at customers, this is for you (and me). [All of the above is worth it to have this food in your belly, by the way.]

Double Date: After-work drinks @ Sara’s choice

Sara is my friend and co-worker. She’s also a furniture maker, pun master and knows a lot of great bars, so she’s going to surprise you, your friend, and me with a place we can go get a drink/bite to eat after work. Sound mysterious? Sound good? All right then.

Date: Eames Documentary @ IFC

I went to the IFC to see Being Elmo this Friday, and saw a trailer for this awesome, upcoming documentary about the husband and wife team behind Eames. It opens November 18th…so if you’re on the fence, you have two weeks to decide if you want to go see it with me or not. No pressure.

Date: Pool/Shuffle Board/Jazz @ Fat Cat

I’m not a pool shark. I’m not even a pool wholphin. But I do like to play, and I’ve never been here despite the fact that I hear good things. Including shuffle board and jazz jam sessions. Let’s go.

Date: Drinks @ Bua

There’s a bar named Bua in the East Village. It has many great drinks, my favorite happens to be called the Red Lemonade. Come check it out with me and find your favorite.

Date: Ice Cream @ Lula’s Sweet Apothecary

I fell in love with this tiny shop a week ago. Like a normal person in the passions of young love, I can’t get it off my mind. I realize it’s cold out…but if you’d like some delicious vegan (but you can’t taste the difference) ice cream, Lula’s your place and I’m your girl.

Date: Pizza @ Paulie Gee’s

I love pizza. I love hot stuff. I love honey. Apparently, there’s a pizza here that has all of that. (Menu as proof.) I’ve been meaning to go for a long time now and still haven’t. If you’d like to come with me, we can high five slices or something in celebration of finally making it there.

Double Date: Wing Eating Contest @ Buffalo Cantina’s

Done!

Hot. Hotter. Suicidal.

We came. We sweated. We hiccuped…we all conquered Buffalo Cantina’s wings like pros. Thus, the wing eating contest was a draw. This was my first ever double date, and I’d say the most fun date so far of this little dating experiment. Probably a combination of the company, beer and learning that there’s a restaurant in the LES that’s “like a bar mitzvah” and goes by a name like “Schmaltzies.” (If you know the real name of this restaurant, please let me know. It sounds ridiculous, and I’d like to go.)

My roommate and overall wonderful person, singer and writer/strategist at Redscout Sarah and I would like to officially challenge two gentlemen to a wing eating contest (in between respites of drinking beer and talking).

Place: Buffalo Catina’s (or if you have a different venue idea, throw it down)

Teams: Buffalo Stance (a.k.a. Sarah and me) vs. ____________ (You and your friend)

Date: T.B.D.

Someone attempting a suicide wing mission

Date: Experience @ the New Museum

Done!

What do you do when you’re an adult who wants to experience things? You spend 25 minutes waiting in line with a bunch of kids to ride a 2-story slide on Saturday morning. (Wheeeee!) You also try on magic goggles, ogle giant mushrooms, ride a slow moving carousel, spoon a blue ape, stick your head in a tank of fish and eat placebo gelcaps. Such was my experience at the New Museum, experiencing “Experience” with my date, Ben. A good sport for meeting me there at 11am and waiting in line after line with me. Though I think what I liked most about the date was finding out Ben went to a Hallowmeme party last week. Perfectly punny. I think I would have gone as either a woman laughing alone with salad or a woman struggling to drink water.

Carsten Höller has an exhibit up where we can ride a carousel and slide down a gigantic slide installation. In my mind, the perfect way to start off Saturday.
